As if golf couldn’t get any hotter as a sport, a new technology for putters has some models flying off the shelf.

A new zero-torque, lie-angle design in  golf putters has taken the industry by storm, and there’s still time to include them in holiday catalogs based on availability, report Ryan DeGrand, Principal, and Andy Haemker, of Pro Am Golf of Brentwood, Mo., now celebrating its 50th anniversary.

In the old days of the incentive, rewards, and recognition, it was difficult to feature holiday-gifting guides with the latest products, since print catalog editions needed so much lead time to produce. Today, with many catalogs powered by electronic feeds, these hot clubs can gain attention of almost any golfer in a holiday or any catalog, they report, especially because of their generally higher costs than traditional putters.

Popular models they say include the LAB Golf Mezz. 1 putter and the TaylorMade Spider Tour X.

While the benefits remain somewhat debatable in the world of golfers, with some swearing by the technology and others skeptical, the new design aligns the shaft axis through the head’s center of gravity, so that the putter head resists the phenomenon of twisting (aka torque) during the stroke. This is believed to promote straighter, more consistent puts, especially for players who struggle with face control, according to Golfreviewsguide.com.
